The Police Unity Tour was founded in 1997 by a group of 18 New Jersey law enforcement officers who boldly rode their bicycles from Florham Park New Jersey to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington D.C. to pay tribute to their fallen Colleagues.  The riders sought to raise awareness and funds for the Memorial, while honoring law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.  Since that time the Police Unity Tour has grown to over 1000 police officers from all over the United States and various parts of the world. 

 The mission of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) is to permanently record and appropriately commemorate the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers.  The memorial has the names of every officer killed in the United States engraved on its walls.  Currently there are approximately 18,000 names on the memorial.  A police officer is killed in this country every 53 hours.

 Each rider is required to raise $1,800 in order to participate in the Tour.  This coin was designed to assist the Arizona Officers in meeting that commitment.  We will be riding from Richmond, VA to Washington D.C. from May 10^th to May 12^th 2008.  There will be approximately 30 Officers representing the State of Arizona.

 This 2 inch coin is sold for $20 each plus postage and handling.  All proceeds from the sale of this coin go directly to the Police Unity Tour.  The Police Unit Tour is a 501C Charitable Organization.  Tax I.D. #22-3530541
