Largo PD is a state and nationally accredited police department. The department was officially created by charter in 1924, staffed by chief A.S. Smith and one patrolman. The population of Largo at the time was about 600 people. By 1948 Lago PD purchase their first police car. Previously to that date officers used their own personal vehicles. Currently 151 sworn officers and 54 civilian support staff.

Police Snipers are highly trained professionals usually assigned to SWAT “Special Weapons and Tactics” or Tactical units of a police department.
