EOD teams are trained to disarm improvised explosive devices, Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological weapons.
All military branches have their own Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technicians. There are three different badges know as “CRAB” that is awarded to the EOD members. These are Basic, Senior and Master badges.

The EOD badge is earned after a successful 42-week course. The training takes place at the Naval School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal located at Eglin U.S. Airforce base located in Florida.

Each part of this insignia has a meaning.
The Wreath Symbolic of the achievements gained minimizing accident potentials through the ingenuity and devotion to duty of its members and It is in memory of the EOD personnel who gave their lives while performing EOD duties.

The Bomb Copied from the design of the World War II Bomb Disposal Badge, the bomb represents the historic and major objective of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal attack, the unexploded bomb. The 3 fins represent the major areas of conventional, nuclear, and chemical/biological interest.

Lightning Bolts Symbolize the potential destructive power of the bomb and the professionalism and courage of Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel in their endeavors to reduce hazards as well as to render explosive ordnance harmless.

The Shield Represents the Explosive Ordnance Disposal mission. To prevent a detonation and protect the property and surrounding area.
